| Bio: | I despair of ever putting anything clever here, so I'll just be straightforward. I am an American academic. My training is in Classics, but I have for 25 years taught in an English Department. At first I chafed against this bit, but now I rather like it. My main academic interest is mythology -- not just classical (though that of course) but also world. My underlying interests are in the various manifestations of culture: different cultures, cultural diversity, changes in culture, and popular culture. My primary way of viewing the world is through literature, though other forms of art interest me as well. | |||||
